Interior detailing is a deep clean of everything inside the car: seats and carpets shampooed and hot-water extracted so the dirt comes out rather than being moved around, leather cleaned with a proper leather cleaner and then conditioned, plastics, vents and door cards cleaned into the seams, the headlining treated where it is safe to, and the glass left streak-free. It is the job for stained seats, a car that smells of dogs, damp or old food, a family car after a summer of day trips, or a car being sold or handed back at the end of a lease. All prices are from prices by vehicle size, confirmed once Nick has seen the car: every car is different. Mobile work: the first 10 miles are free, then 30p a mile.
Fabric holds dirt deep in the fibres, which is why wiping a seat never gets it clean. The seats and carpets are pre-treated, agitated with a soft brush, then rinsed and extracted with a hot-water extractor that pulls the dirty water back out. The difference shows in the colour of the water, and in the seat.
Fabric is left slightly damp and dries within a few hours with the windows cracked or the heater on. On a mobile job in winter, that is worth planning around.
Leather seats get dirty the same way fabric does: body oils, sun cream and denim dye rub into the surface, and it starts to look shiny and grey. Shiny leather is usually dirty leather. It is cleaned with a pH-balanced leather cleaner and a soft brush, wiped, and then conditioned so it stays supple and does not crack. Leather repair and recolouring are specialist jobs; if a seat is split or worn through, you will be pointed to the right person rather than having it covered up.
Mats, loose items and child seats removed, and a first hoover of the whole car, under the seats and in the boot.

Questions
Usually a few hours with the windows slightly open or the heater and fan running. Extraction takes most of the water back out, so the seats are damp rather than wet.
Most stains come out with pre-treatment and extraction. Very old stains, dye transfer and some drinks can lighten rather than disappear completely. You will be told what is likely before the work starts.
Yes. Leather is cleaned with a dedicated leather cleaner and conditioned afterwards. Splits and worn-through areas are a repair job, not a cleaning one.
Yes. Interior cleaning is done on driveways and in workplace car parks, from a fully equipped van. The car needs space to open all the doors.
