Brake dust is made of tiny hot iron particles that land on your wheels and bake into the lacquer, which is why alloy wheels go dull and brown and why a normal wash leaves them grey. A proper wheel clean dissolves that iron with a fallout remover, the one that turns purple as it works, then cleans the faces, the spokes and the barrels behind them with wheel-safe brushes, removes tar, and dresses the tyres. With the wheels clean, a wheel ceramic coating is the step that keeps them that way: it is made to take the heat of the brakes and stops brake dust bonding, so the next wash takes minutes. Wheels are cleaned at the studio in Connah's Quay, on the car or fully with the wheels off, which is the time to coat the barrels as well. Kerb damage is a refurbishment job, and you will be pointed to one.

Brake dust is metallic and it arrives hot. It embeds into the wheel's lacquer, and ordinary car shampoo cannot shift it. Scrubbing harder only scratches the lacquer. The answer is chemistry: an iron remover dissolves the particles so they rinse away, and a separate tar remover takes the black spots off the lower edges.

A wheel coating is a ceramic coating made to handle brake heat. Once the wheel is decontaminated and dry, the coating stops brake dust and road grime bonding to the lacquer, so a rinse and a soft brush takes most of it off. It is especially worth it on cars with performance brakes that dust heavily, and on anything with gloss black or diamond-cut wheels, which show every speck.
